Let's Go Bowling!!

The week before school started, my good friend Erica asked us if we wanted to go bowling with her and her cute daughter, Mariah! It was the day that Zach got his braces on, and to my surprise he wanted to go!! (I didn't think he would feel like it) I think it was a nice distraction for him actually!
(above) Erica is helping Mariah bowl! I think this was the first time Mariah had been bowling...and she did great by the way!! A natural bowler!

(above) Wow, look at all that enthusiasm for bowling!! Calm down boys!! ha!
I tried to get a good picture of us....guess Zach didn't feel like smiling yet...

(above) looks like it might be a strike Zach!! X
Erica has a great swing! I'm pretty sure that one was a strike! X Go girl!

Finally, a sincere smile! We all had a great time together! At the end the boys were helping Mariah play some video games in the game room! Thanks Erica and Mariah for such a good time! Lets do it again soon!!! xoxo

Some Good Reads

I know some of you out there are members of the Good Reads website. It is always fun to get updates from my GoodReads friends to see what they have read (with a book rating) and what they are about to read!! I have forgotten how to use the website and can't figure it out again! So I haven't been able to update my "good reads!"
I am planning on picking up this book (below) The Outlander, by Diana Gabaldon soon. It is the first in a series and the latest book just came out this week. (book 7) I have a good source on the recommendation (thanks April!!) and it gets 5 *'s on Amazon. Plus I think it is a book Dan will be interested in too!!!

Same Kind of Different As Me is such a good book. I think this might top my fav. book list right along there with The Hiding Place, by Corrie Ten Boom.

When this book by Beth Moore came out (below) I wasn't in any hurry to buy it! I wasn't in a pit and didn't need it...but one day I decided to read it and was glad I did. It is a good book and Beth talks alot about herself in this book. It was fun to learn more about her! Plus at the back there are several really good prayers full of scripture to pray! :) It is definitely worth checking out!

But right now I'm finishing up this series by Terri Blackstock. I have really enjoyed listening to these books on my Ipod and have a few chapters to go on book 4!! I highly recommend these too!!

I always love a good fiction or non-fiction book to get carried away in. Have a great weekend!! And happy reading!!

Flags 9/11 and Texas Tech

Tonight the boys and I walked down to the park at the end of our street for some fresh air and to see the flags that were placed there to remember the ones that lost their lives from 9/11.
The flags are here every Sept. 11th to remember the fallen.

And the boys were wearing their Texas Tech shirts to show some support for the big Tech vs. Texas game tonight. We are proud of Tech even though they didn't win tonight.

The flags surround the whole park. What a nice tribute to remember those that lost their life that dreadful day....

Scavenger Hunt

Tonight our Sunday Morning Bible Study group, Adult 3 got together for dinner and a scavenger hunt! A few years ago some BIG Jackrabbits were made and put all around town. Tonight we had to divide into teams and find them and take pictures with them.

We had one other couple go with us, Kendra and Jonathon. Come to find out, Dan went to church with Jonathon years ago when he use to live here! Small world!!!

Our team came in 3rd out of 4 teams. Most everybody went home with a prize of some sort. We got a stuffed Jack rabbit! (and these pictures)

Below~Hare on a Hog- on W. County Road We found 21 out of 34 bunnies. The winning team found 26! We still don't know how they found so many!! As you can tell, we were all over the city!!

**The best part is that Dan gave up his high school football game tonight to go with me to this activity!** Thank you Dan! You're the best!!! IYU!!

Mexican Food

A while back, my BFF April told me she made Navajo tacos for dinner. Navajo Tacos?? I was impressed!!! What a creative dinner!! So since then, I've been wanting to make them for my family. BUT making the sopapilla's didn't sound like a lazy man's "easy" dinner...

One day while shopping at our friendly neighborhood Albertsons I discovered a sopapilla's mix that looked easy enough! Thankfully, I looked at it early enough, because you do have to let it sit for 30-40 mins. to let the dough rise!

I was so happy because I even got some to puff out!!

I had browned some ground beef and sprinkled it with onion powder and cumin, bought some rice and beans from Rosa's (yum!) and stuffed the meat into the sopapillas for a delicious stuffed sopapilla mexican dinner.

This is what I usually get at our fav restaurant Pete's in Belen, NM and I thought it tasted as good!! I just realized that I forgot to add some green chile to this dinner. Oh-well. Maybe I can do that tonight because we had enough for left overs! Lucky us! ;o)
We all even enjoyed a sopapilla with honey for dessert! Thanks April for the great, creative and yummy dinner idea!!
XOXO

Whitney Houston

Did anyone else out there catch the interview with Whitney Houston on Oprah? Well, if not, let me tell you, you missed a blessing!!

Whitney Houston has been to hell and back in her life with ex-hubby Bobby Brown and she says it was the Lord who saved her!! Amen!

Oprah asked her..."Who do you love?" and Whitney's answer was "I love the Lord!"

Then Oprah asked "Do you now know your own strength?" And Whitney answered "I know where my help cometh." (and her eyes looked upward to heaven!) (Psalm 121:1,2 - my friend Jana text me that verse just this week!! Thanks Jana!!)

Whitney also said "she prays away desires for drugs" and that she would "read the word ...and the Holy Spirit would guide her." !!! Amen!!

So while I don't like Oprah and her wishy washy mindset on God, I really think Whitney's "testimony" was powerful. To God be the Glory!!!

I lift up my eyes to the hills -- where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth. Psalm 121:1,2 NIV

So Thankful...

Can I just say how much I'm loving our new church home at FBC?? I am so thankful God lead us there. Sunday's went from being a least favorite day in my week to my favorite day of the week!! No more dragging on Sunday mornings! TGBTG!!! Now that is an answer to prayer!

Tonight all the kids activities started and of course, the boys were mad they had to go. Oh, I prayed for blessings for them tonight!! And God answered with YES! Zach actually thanked me for taking him!!! Can I get an AMEN! That is ONLY God!!!! :)

Exceedingly Abundantly! More than I can ask or imagine!! My God is able to do anything, Oh how I love you my King!! Ephesians 3:20-21

What a boy wants...

Dan's good friend Tom invited Dan and the boys over to his "ranch" to do some target practice. Talk about some happy boys!!!

This is Tom's AR 15 rifle and "boy" was it fun to shoot!! Dan calls it a "toy" even though it is NOT a toy!!
Skeet shooting! Everyone hit the flying skeet!

(below) Can you spot Drew's skeet in the air??

What fun father son bonding time!!!

Earlier this week Dan and Tom went Dove hunting. Dan came home with several Dove and he grilled it for us on Labor Day. I tasted a tiny bit and it was very strong. Thanks hun, but uh, no thanks! :)

Oh my! I just read that the Duggars are preparing for their 19th child!!! Sheesh! That makes me tired just thinking about it!
