Top of Texas!!

On Saturday, Dan and Drew went to the Guadalupe Mtns. and climbed Guadalupe Peak, which is the highest point in TX. They have both climbed it before, but since we don't have access to very many mountains close by, it has become one that gets climbed over and over. There was a 7th grade group from Wall, TX there on a science field trip; so that made for about 230 people on the mountain - the most Dan has ever seen.
There is cell phone connection at the top, so Zach and I got the call from the top of Texas! That is always a treat! (too bad we missed it though! BOO)
Zach and I weren't in the mood to hike so we stayed home and went to see "17 Again".
I checked the reviews, lightly, and thought it wouldn't be too bad to take him (it was PG-13) - so we went. We were both alittle shocked at times at what we heard, but all in all, it was a cute movie. However, Zach was alittle unsure about seeing a PG 13 movie, he doesn't see too many, if any at all...and he did seem a little disappointed that one of the stars of the movie used bad language. (it really wasn't too bad Grammy and Grandmommy!!) Maybe we are raising him right after all. Y

Easter 2003 - Palo Duro Canyon camping trip

This is one of my fav. Easter's ever. We went tent camping in beautiful Palo Duro Canyon.
We colored eggs and had a big hunt in a nearby park! The Easter bunny even found us out there! I love these days with my older boys, but I really miss these little faces!! Thank goodness for Flashback Friday so I can remember!!! Y

Easter Fun

It's been so fun looking at all the pictures of ya'lls Easter fun! We had a blessed Easter at Lake Brownwood with Dan's family. Can you believe we forgot our camera?? Argh! We left in a mad dash - so a few important things got left behind. boo! Tia got a few pics, I just haven't got them from her yet.

The boys fished and fished and each caught some good looking fish! The cousins colored eggs together! Everybody enjoyed that one, young and old alike!!! You are never too old to color eggs are you? We played games, watched movies, did nothing and got creative to help Abby get a big project started for dance. Yay quality family time!!! Y

We had a delicious Easter dinner of ham, new potatoes and squash, baked beans! Dan's family are such good cooks!! We had our Easter dinner on Sat. and then a delicious brunch Sunday morning. We had a wonderful family devotional afterwards. Brady did a wonderful job telling us about Jesus and relating it to our lives!! Y

After a big Easter egg hunt in the back yard it was time to pack up and get home. The boys rode home with their grandparents in their luxurious motorhome; Lounging around on the couch and recliner!! Lucky them!!! Pluto sat under the backseat happily eating a big Hersey kiss he found in the boys baskets!! Don't worry, he didn't eat too much!

We are thankful for the Easter holiday and all it means to us. Our Lord and Saviour rising from the dead!! What a wonderful miracle. We are thankful to get time together to enjoy each others company and reflect on our Saviour! And I was a little sad to see just how big my boys are when they were hunting eggs. Even though they are getting big, they still delight in the "little" things like hunting eggs! But the eggs with cash inside are more fun these days!!! Y

A Favorite Thing!

For Christmas I was lucky enough to get a big ITunes gift card. (Thanks Mom!!) I have just now had time to get around to using it! Oh, it is so exciting to decide what music to purchase for my Ipod! But this card was pretty big, $$$, so I didn't really want to spend it all on music. I was thinking about getting a book, but couldn't find anything I wanted, so I asked the boys what I should get with it. Zach reminded me about the "Adventures In Odyssey" podcasts and wondered if I had any new ones for him to listen to. I was sooooooo glad Zach mentioned that! I went straight to see what ITunes had to offer in Odyssey Adventures. Together, the boys and I picked out several good podcasts and they were only $1.95 each!

Last night Drew listened to one of them and told me today that I should listen to it. So I put on my Ipod and listened while I rode my bike.

It was so incredible. As I listened I realized God used the little "adventure" to speak the exact truth I needed to hear into my ears. I was stunned. And not only by that, but by how God used both my boys to get me to hear it.

Needless to say, the boys and I will be picking out a few more "adventures" later!!

Thank you God!! Y
