Caroling
Tonight our small group from church got together to go caroling at a local nursing home.
Some of the kids made handmade Christmas cards to give the residents and we brought cookies and brownies too! These two little cuties were a hit with the residents! Don't we just love little kids?
It was a time to show some talent and let everyone know something was going on.
It was a great experience for Zach and Drew -- to reach out to others during the Christmas season.
Sadly, Dan had a work Christmas party in Roswell NM, so he was not able to go with us. We all missed his presence and his voice as we caroled up and down the halls. Some residents were already asleep, but we did get to talk to a few. It was fun to do this together and sing together and we think the residents were happy we came to see them. Being in a nursing home is not easy, so we were glad to bring some smiles to a few faces and to our faces!

Sunday Stroll
We decided it was a good time to, finally, take the dogs on a walk down the alley to the beautiful park at the end of our street.
Drew and his ducks. He loves animals of all kind! At one point, he had all the ducks in the pond following him! It was soooo funny! Y
I loved this "action" shot!!

Thanksgiving Fun
Mom came for the holidays, (thanks Michael!) and we had a great time. We cooked, ate, played games, put up Christmas lights, shopped (oh, yes we did!! Up at 4:30 am and got some great deals!!) rested, and went to Christmas on the Pecos in Carlsbad, NM Friday evening. Mom also helped me with decorating the house. I don't have any gifts in that area. I knew mom would help make it feel more like home. Thanks mom!! We love you! Come back soon!

Taiga Biome
Drew and other classmates looking at the animals from a jungle biome.
Here is Zach presenting information about the Taiga Biome to the 3rd graders. (see Drew) All the 5th graders each put together information about different Biomes around the world and presented it to the whole school. Zach was a great spokes person and gave a lot of interesting information. I went today to tour it while Drew's class was there;
So I got to see both my boys! Y

More on Twilight
Love Bites: Pattinson's Lousy Pucker
Posted Nov. 19, 2008
Have you reached "Twilight" overload yet? If you don't feel the urge to sharpen a wooden stake whenever you hear the name Robert Pattinson, then please keep reading. The newly minted, nonthreatening heartthrob, 22, who plays brooding vampire Edward Cullen in the teen-targeted bloodsucker flick, told Ellen DeGeneres on Tuesday that even though he's eliciting hysteria-tinged shrieks wherever he goes, he remains unhappily unattached. "No one else seems to get into a relationship with me. It's really strange," he says. "People like screaming at me. Actually, they like screaming at me in relationships as well. No one wants to commit." Perhaps it's Pattinson's pucker technique, which he says was put to the test while swapping spit with "Twilight" co-star Kristen Stewart. "Yeah, I mean, it's terrifying. Especially when you kiss and you've got to do it at a weird angle or something," the British actor admits to Seventeen. "But I'm skirting the answer because I'm a really bad kisser. That's why I don't want to go into details! I hadn't kissed anyone for a while before the movie, so I'd kind of forgotten how!" Want more? Really? You can find out his -- OMG! -- celebrity crush and many other things Pattinson-related here.
I found this article on MSN Gossip. Be sure and click the here button (above) to read an interview with "Edward" aka Robert Pattinson. They also had an interview with "Jasper" aka Jackson Rathbone of Twilight. I was a little disappointed with Roberts answers. "Jasper" had a much more interesting interview. Check it out for yourself!!

Twilight Date Night
Dan and I got out and had a nice dinner and movie date night. We went to see "Twilight" - the movie theater was packed and there were alot of screaming girls when Edward made his debut. It was fun!
I thought the movie was overall - very, very good. It was a little slow in the beginning, but got better toward the end. I loved all the characters coming to life and yes Edward was so dreamy! :)
Dan enjoyed it too, but we went during the Tech/OU game so he was busy looking up scores during the movie. Plus Tech lost, so that was a bummer.
If you saw the movie, I'd love to know what you thought!!

Handmade Shade
Look at the new shade for my bathroom. I made it yesterday with the much needed help of Dan's mom. It only took a couple of hours and boy was it worth it! I totally love it and it is even more special since I made it. Thank you Norma for your help with it! And thanks to Dan for hanging it for me! Y

Lets Pray
Please join me in praying for our President-elect Barack Obama, his wife Michelle, and his precious daughters, Sasha and Malia. Go with me before the Throne of our sovereign God and ask Him to grant wisdom from above to President-elect Obama and the indwelling presence and power of Jesus Christ. In the words of the Apostle Paul, "I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone - for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior..."
This is taken from the Living Proof Ministry Blog by Beth Moore. Check it out. It is on my blog roll or find it at http://www.livingproofministries.blogspot.com/ - And I happen to think it is great advice. Please also visit http://lysaterkeurst.blogspot.com/ Lysa Terkeurst blog. She has a lot of great things to say about "our new day".
Lets start praying now for President-elect Barack Obama.

Fun Days
Thursday was my Dr. appointment in Lubbock. Yes, my very wonderful arthritis doctor is 2 hours away. Good thing I only go see him every 12 weeks. However, I have a wonderful friend in Lubbock that I usually get to see while I'm there. Yesterday we met at the mall, shopped and had lunch then met back up after my appointment for more shopping(window shopping - we mostly looked!) We had such a fun time! She use to live in Odessa and our kids are the same age, so we were very sad they moved. It has been great to keep up our friendship over the miles. I can't wait for summer when they come see us and swim the day away in our new pool! Luv ya Laurie!!
Today was FUN DAY at the kids school. They had a carnival in the gym during their PE. time. The dress up theme was Masquerade Ball / Story Book character. We looked and looked for Zach something, but never found anything that he liked. He still had fun, just wearing black! (Today is Black Out Day in Lubbock for the big Tech/Texas game tomorrow. So he wore black in honor of that!! Go Tech!)
