It's off!
Zachary has been waiting for this day! He's not enjoyed wearing the cast at all! He is missing P.E. at school! So today was the long awaited day to get the cast off. After the Dr. looked at the x-ray he said "okay - two more weeks!" Zach and I were shocked! So I told the Dr. we thought today was the day to get it off...the Dr. looked at the dates Zach broke his arm..etc...and then said - "Okay, lets take off". After Zach got the cast off he was alittle unprepared for the weakness and pain to still be there; so he was a little disappointed. He almost wanted the cast back on!!! The doc. said they would evaluate him again in 3 weeks to see how he's doing and if he needs any physical therapy.
The moral of the story is...Don't break a bone!!!

Lisa Whelchel *Updated*
Erica, Lisa Whelchel, me
Just a little background on Lisa Whelchel aka Blair Warner...she is a loving mother of three beautiful kids and this lady loves the Lord. She is very real about mothering and her desperate need for God's help to raise her kids and to be a good wife that honors her husband and God doing it.
Visit her website at http://www.lisawhelchel.com/ to see a little more of who she is. Her book "The Facts and Life and other things my Father taught me" is a wonderful book about her relationship with the Lord throughout her life. It is very easy to read, for those of you with not much time to read!!

New BFF
My new BFF, Lisa Whelchel, was in town yesterday. She was here for a conference. I've heard her speak two time before (once in 2002 and again last year). If you've never been to hear her, you really should try to make it if she is in your area. She is a dynamic speaker. Very interesting, funny and REAL! Anyway, I was able to make it to her two prior speaking engagements with my friend Karen, but yesterday I went with my friend Erica. I can't wait to get our picture. This time Lisa provided the camera and you can get the photos off her web-site. I'm not sure if she charges for it or not.
It was a fun way to spend the morning.

Happy Birthday to my wonderful Mother-in-law! You are an example of a Proverbs 31 Woman.
May you be richly blessed this new year!

Old Made New Again
Today as I was walking the dog, I noticed my neighbors down the street were having a garage sale. I quickly took the dog back to the house (He isn't much for neighbors...) and got my cash and cell phone and ran back down the street. I had noticed a patio table sitting outside (at the garage sale) and I have been wanting a patio table forever... It was marked $60 and it was used, for sure. Rusty chairs, worn seat handles, but that didn't scare me off. I was talking to Dan on the cell, telling him all about my great find while my neighbor started telling me about the table...as he finished talking he said "I'll take $50 for it" !!! Dan didn't care so I snatched it up! When Dan helped me get it home, he wasn't very impressed - thinking it looks every bit of a $50 garage sale find but said it to get some spray paint to it. And that I did... The chair on the left has not been touched up. It's hard to tell from the picture, but the bottom is full of chipped paint and rust, the arm handles worn...but the one of the right I've already spray painted and put a coat of paint on the handles and ta da!!! Looks good as new! Now I just need to order some chair pads to finish the look! I can't wait to use it!!

A day of Hunting with dad
The boys and Dan went to do a little shooting and target practice. Dan's family has this wonderful piece of land perfect for this type of thing. It's almost as much fun looking around the land as it is shooting the guns! The boys discovered a nest of beautiful white owls in an old water tank out there in a recent visit! What a find!
Men and hunting. There is such an attraction. Oh, it's so fun being the mom of these wonderful creatures!!!

Amazing.
http://www.attitudeisaltitude.com/aboutus-nick.php
I recently found a TV program hosted by my very favorite Joni Eareckson Tada. Each week she tells of lives changed by paralysis and hope in God. One week she even told her story! What a treat that was; to hear her story from her. Wow! Last week it was about her friend, Nick Vujicic, the 25 year old man without limbs. Wow - what an incredible life! Check out his web-site above. You won't be sorry you got to know him.

Can you imagine???
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - A father and his 12-year-old son were safe Monday after spending more than 12 hours overnight treading water in the Atlantic miles from the central Florida coast.
The Coast Guard said the two were swept away by the tide Saturday and found by rescuers the next morning. The father was found about eight miles from shore and the boy two hours later, one mile from his father.
Both were in good condition Monday at a local hospital.
Authorities said Chris Marino was swimming when he became caught in a current. His 46-year-old father, Walter Marino, jumped in to save the boy. Marino's daughter saw them being carried out to sea and called the Coast Guard.
The two became separated after dark as they floated in 3-foot swells. The family is from Oviedo in central Florida.

Painted Fun
Here are the fun things we painted at "The Pottery" (in Midland) when Grammy was here.
Pluto loves his new water bowl! Zach painted it and had to give it a try too!! Cool and refreshing! Drew painted this cute train, but this is the best I could get of both Drew and the train. If you have boys, you probably understand... (oh, the purple shoe is Grammy's) Y
I painted this ring holder! Oh, I just love it! Y
Dan even joined the painting fun and painted this pirate! u
Thanks Grammy for taking us out to paint together. Now we have great things to remind of us our time together! Y

It was for this teacher that we prayed...
Wow! This came in the mail today. It does a parent's heart good to have a school teacher reach out to her students this way! Thank you Lord! You are so faithful!!

New Cast
Yesterday Zach got his new short arm cast. This gentleman here put the cast on. He was so nice and funny! He was very interested in Zach and Drew - said he loved all kids. Sweet!
As the Dr. was leaving, I confirmed that Zach would not participate in PE until his arm is healed. The Dr. said "yes, no PE" Then Zach says "Can I do push ups??" The Dr. and I were so shocked to hear this question...and then the Dr. proceeded to tell Zach - "NO PUSH UPS!!! What do want kid? SURGERY???" Oh Zach, I love your innocence.

Labor Day fun
Can you believe I forgot my camera?? These are the memories I have to "ponder in my heart".
The boys have been dying to go fishing, so Dan found a beautiful clear lake for us to go to. It was about 2 1/2 hours away. Close to Lubbock. Beautiful it was! The water clear....a few boats....and even fish! But after a few hours of fishing and catching nothing, we decided to go to another lake was passed on the way over. Plus we had brought a canoe, and with all the boats making the water rough, we couldn't use it here.
As we were approaching the other lake, Dan said "this lake is probably a brown lake." And boy was he right! Ugly dirty brown! No swimming for me, thanks! However brown, it was a great lake to take the canoe out and fish in. The canoe only holds two, but we made room for Drew, so I just laid on the "beach" in some shade and listened to my Ipod. It was very relaxing! When the boys got back, they still hadn't caught anything, so decided to keep fishing. To our surprise, Dan actually caught a beautiful, white cropie!! It was big too! (really, it was!!) Since we had good luck, we decided to keep fishing, but after a while we decided to pack up and head home. Dan started the day saying it was "catch and release day" - so sadly, we let our beautiful, big fish go.
Everyone had a blast. What a great way to spend a day off together! Dan always does a great job finding great places for us to go do what the boys want. XOXO Wish you all had been with us! Maybe next time...
